What
Makes this Journal Unique?
Combining the best characteristics of a printed professional journal
with the explosive potential of Internet technology, e-Volunteerism
caters to volunteer leaders/managers who want to go beyond the mundane
in the volunteerism field.
Constantly Changing
e-Volunteerism is a quarterly "publication," in which
a table of contents is posted at the start of each quarter (January 15,
April 15, July 15, October 15), with a few items "ready" from
the first day of the quarter. More items are posted until, at the end
of three months, the entire issue is hotlinked and available.
Completely Interactive
EVERY item in the publication is interactive, inviting you to contribute
comments and additional materials. At the end of each quarter, that issue
is made permanent and archived--its major articles and features continuing
to be accessible and interactive.
Dynamic Staff
Spearheaded by internationally-known volunteerism consultants, Steve
McCurley and Susan J. Ellis, the editorial team
combines great writing skills with a savvy understanding of the field.
More than a Traditional
Journal
We offer special pdf files, printable training materials, electronic "roundtable"
discussions and--eventually--audio and video contributions. For the long-term
future, we also envision live, real-time presentations. We want to experiment.
Regular Features
In addition to several quality articles each quarter, we have developed
several regular features for each issue. These include:
Points of View commentaries by founding publishers, Steve McCurley and Susan J. Ellis.
Keyboard Roundtables giving a global perspective on volunteerism topics, involving participants from around the world, convened by Andy Fryar (Australia) and Rob Jackson (United Kingdom)
Training Designs offering an in-depth exploration of one training technique or topic, with group
exercises you can use immediately, by Betty Stallings and other trainers.
Research to Practice, edited by Rob Jackson (UK) to interpret scholarly research for practitioners.
Along the Web, by Steve McCurley, linking to relevant Web sites on many topics of interest to volunteerism leaders
Voices from the Past, in which Susan Ellis shares “forgotten” material written more than 25 years ago but still relevant today.
